My first Monster

When I was a Little girl I saw few horror movie because I was much fear, but I don’t call “monster” a Samara, the girl of “The Ring”. So, I did memory and I remembered of the first monster, the elephant man.

I remembered that every time this movie was in the television, my family saw to met  in the parent room this. I don’t understood why we were met, but I did follow for not be alone and get bored. To when I saw in the television, in black and white, a movie in to appeared a man with deformed face and body!. I had no more to four years and I was terrified.. a this age only I had see a deformed human in cartoon, but never “in live”, say as the job of make up was amazing. The movie in black and white was scant attractive for a little girl as me.

I remember my cries was of horror and my cry of fear. At a time, my brothers me echanam of the room for I don’t understand the bottom right symbol of the screen “prohibit for children of 18 years”. Today, I’am 24 and even I don’t see. 

My best birthday

I Usually celebrate my birthey with my family and friends, not at the same time but the same day. It is strage/unusual for me not to do something and through the years tipe of party has change. Choosing the best birthday is hard because it can be from a emotional perspectiva, fun or even  another crazy reason.. The best memory i have is when I was 10 years old (I think so). My birthay is in may, so it always rains. At that time i was living in "La Reina", wich is Almost in the mountain so It was very cold and windy. I Remember that it was a important party becouse it was the first late party in my class ( 00:30). The guests to the party were the closest classmates. They arrived with a lot of clothes becouse it was really cold. We were having a god time  until the lights went out, and the lightnings and thunders began. It used to  scare me but in that  moment, with my friends I forgot about it. We had to light some candles and we started to play "Yenga" ( it's a tower of wood pieces that you dont have to let fall), guess the song and I dont remember what else but my party was awesome. my partners were very grateful when they left, and the light returned the next day. My party was perfect.

My work as an artist

 Working with my hands and create manufactured pieces it is what motivated me to study Fine Arts. I deserted Graphic Designe because usually requires a lot of computer work and digital printing. On the other hand Printmaking is more personal and more dedicated work, this tecnique allows me to work more with my hands, which distinguishes it from the computer and plotter. This is why, through this particular tecnique, I can improve my handmade work into an art project or  Installation. 

In my years of study I have learned not to disqualify certain kind of art that has no critical or political nature, that defines the ideology of the artist. Because there’s art for everyone, I dont believe there’s only one type of art. This idea works alternaly,, sometimes visual works mainly researching on the technique itself, and  others thinking  about  issues that affect me and my surrounding.

On this late work, I researched as a conflict the  identity and nationality, how one is imposed on the other, and how it has been taught to us that both go hand in hand when it is not. This project is titled "impositions", consist of 6 racks of aguayos intervened on Silk screen printing.

Mr. Eugenio

 

Hi,

he is Mr Eugenio Calderon, he work is a master of print-tools and in ours studio of printmaking, used his tools.

Mr Eugenio Calderon life in his repairing workshop located in San Joaquin (Santiago) with his family. He makes tools for engraving tools for wood and metal, furniture wood, sculpture., etc... These tools are only, made by himself with his hands and whit very work. The engraving tools for wood are best because in the Homecenter or other type of shops are bad for working with wood. These arentt sharp and I have to make much strenght for carve.

I like thises tools because Mr Eugenio makes engraving tools for wood with good edge, polished and finished. I can't work without problem inappropiate. Also, his wife visits always to studio of printmaking of the friendsteacher, and for students to Univseridad de Chile make discount. For contacts more closes, Mr Eugenio make barter throught objects a his needs, but its a secret.
